I am reading research studies all the time. Sometimes they are the latest and sometimes they are papers I will uncover while researching a particular topic. Rather then relegate them all to twitter I felt I should collect them and post them once a month or so. So we’ll see how this goes.

- from 1997-1999 to 2009-2011 food allergies and skin allergies were found to have increased among children aged 0-17 years
- food allergies were found to affect 5.1% of children in this age range
- skin allergies were found more prevalent in younger children
- respiratory allergies were found more prevalent in older children
- Increasing Prevalence of Nonalcoholic Fatty Liver Disease Among United States Adolescents, 1988-1994 to 2007-2010 (2013 Mar)
- Suspected nonalcoholic fatty liver disease prevalence in ages 12-19 rose to from 3.9% in 1988-1994 to 10.7% in 2007-2010
- Role of Choline Deficiency in the Fatty Liver Phenotype of Mice Fed a Low Protein, Very Low Carbohydrate Ketogenic Diet (2013 Aug)
- found that feeding mice a particular ketogenic feed (Bio-Serv F3666) may lead to issues due to choline deficiency rather than as a result of the high fat content

- statins found to reduce incidence of heart attack and stroke but did not reduce all cause mortality in this population

- examined 142,377 medical records from 2009 of people in Olmsted County, Minnesota
- 68% of people received prescription from at least 1 drug group
- 51% of people received prescriptions from 2 or more drug groups
- 21% of people received prescriptions from 5 or more drug groups
